About
¡Hola mundo! My name is Miguel Carranza and I am a software engineer from Seville, Spain. I got my first computer when I was 8 years old and I fell in love with technology. Since that moment, the decision to study Computer Science was pretty settled. Afterward, I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to take an MSc in Software Engineering at Cranfield University.
Right after graduating from my masters, my life dream of working in Silicon Valley became a reality. Thanks to the program Jovenes con Futuro, I got an internship at MindSnacks, an educational software company in San Francisco. I became a full-time employee soon, and the original 6-month plan ended up turning into 5 and a half amazing years. The experience was phenomenal, I got to work with an incredibly talented team, learned way more than I ever thought was possible, and helped building Elevate, which became Apple’s App of the Year of 2014.
In 2018, I left my job as a Director of Engineering at Elevate to start a new company with my friend Jacob. RevenueCat, the easiest way for app developers to implement mobile subscriptions, launched that summer. We also went through Y Combinator, and learned from world-class founders.
Currently, I serve as RevenueCat’s CTO. Our team is distributed and our engineers are based in 8 countries and multiple timezones.
Besides computers and learning about company building mistakes, I love surfing, playing guitar/bass, photography and videography. I am also a big fan of Star Wars, pizza, Cool Ranch Doritos and Californian punk-rock. I have never drunk alcohol in my life, which is pretty weird, but straight edge sounds way cooler.
I am always excited to have healthy discussions about my interests, analyzing pros and cons and being constantly learning. Please reach out if you strongly disagree with anything I write here, or if I can be of any help.
-Miguel
